Cut-out cop kidnapped

Police are disappointed after a cut-out cop was swiped from his post outside a Kelowna elementary school.

Const. "Warren Ning" had only just been on his first rotation at A.S. Matheson Elementary in an effort to get drivers to slow down before he went missing.

On Thursday, police were alerted to the cut-out cop's disappearance. It's believed he was taken about 3:30 p.m. that day, after school ended.

“Simply put, it is truly disappointing,” said Kelowna RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. “This initiative was created with the safety of our youth in mind. Whoever is responsible for the theft has put students at risk.”

You're urged to call police if you spot the cardboard constable away from school property.

“We encourage anyone who may be in possession of the cut-out, to do the right thing and call police directly, simply return the item to the school it was removed from, or drop it off at any Kelowna RCMP detachment or community policing office,” said O’Donaghey.
