A body was found in a ditch south of Prince George over the weekend.

Police in Prince George are seeking the public's help after a man was found dead in a ditch last weekend.

At about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a call of a person lying in a ditch on West Lake Estates Road, off Blackwater Road, south of the Prince George city limits.

Police found the body of a 40-year-old Prince George man and they're treating his death as a homicide.

Earlier that same morning, the Beaverly Volunteer Fire Department had responded to a vehicle fire just west of the Prince George.

“Police are attempting to determine if there is a connection between the abandoned vehicle fire and the homicide,” said Cpl. Madonna Saunderson of the North District RCMP.

Investigators are asking anyone who noticed suspicious vehicles or people on West Lake Estates Road, Blackwater Road, Lower Mud River Road, Chilako Station Road or McBride Timber Road on the morning of Jan. 12 to call them at 250-561-3300.
