Farmer finds chickens in half

Alanna Kelly

A farmer living in Kelowna's Ellison District couldn’t figure out what was killing his chickens.

Rod Triviger says for the past week he has found one of his chickens dead each day, totalling six deaths.

“We were just finding half chickens in our enclosure, and we thought 'Wow, this is really odd,'” he said.

Triviger didn’t find who the culprit was until he put a camera in the pen and saw an owl swoop in and grab the chickens with its talons.

He says the pen is fairly enclosed, but now he will have to bring the chickens inside every night.

“If you leave the little door open, there are always a few that like to stay outside at night, they are sitting chickens,” he said with a chuckle.

Hopefully, no more chickens will be killed now that the mystery has been solved.
