Guilty in flight from police

A woman who fled from police in a stolen truck eight days ago has already pleaded guilty in Kelowna provincial court.

Sandra Woloshyn, 37, was arrested in the early morning hours of Dec. 11 in Vernon after she fled northbound on Highway 97 from a Lake Country RCMP officer, driving a stolen Ford F-150.

She made her way to 15th Avenue on Vernon's Hospital Hill before she hit a spike belt that had been deployed across Highway 97 by police.

Finally coming to a stop on the other side of town, at 48th Avenue and 32nd Street, Woloshyn attempted to hide from police, but she was found and arrested shortly after.

On Tuesday morning, Woloshyn pleaded guilty to possession of stolen property over $5,000 and willfully resisting an officer. The Crown stayed her other charges of fleeing from police and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

Woloshyn was sentenced to 60 days in jail for the incident, and given enhanced credit of 12 days of presentence custody.

She was also handed a year of probation following her release.

While this was Woloshyn's first charge in B.C., she was charged with two counts of possessing stolen property and methamphetamine in August after she was found by police in a stolen Ford F-350 with two other people in Okotoks, Alta., as reported by CTV Calgary.
