Highway snow alert

While it remains unseasonably warm in the Okanagan Monday morning, Environment Canada  has issued an alert for Highway 3 - Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.

Environment Canada is predicting snowfall with total amounts of 25 to 30 cm expected as a moist Pacific frontal system is set to swing over southern B.C. Monday evening.

Snow levels are low enough that Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass will see up to 15 cm of snowfall accumulation tonight with up to an additional 20 cm on Tuesday. The heavy snow will ease later Tuesday as the back end of the system swings through and heads into Alberta.

Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.

You are advised to check DriveBC and Castanet for the latest road conditions.
