Vehicle fire doused

Police are investigating a vehicle fire in Kelowna overnight.

Firefighters were called to the blaze inside a storage/mechanic bay type structure, about 2:45 a.m. on the 3100 Block of Sexsmith Road.

Platoon Capt. John Kelly says when crews arrived, they found smoke coming from the soffit area of the roof.

Inside, one vehicle was on fire with impingement on two others. Luckily, the sprinkler system had been activated and was able to contain the fire.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and ventilated the building.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by both RCMP and Kelowna Fire Department investigators.

Kelowna Fire Department responded with four engines, one ladder truck, rescue unit, a safety unit and command vehicle with a total of 17 personnel.
