250 toys, Mamas for Mamas

The holiday season just got a little brighter for some families after a generous donation to Mamas for Mamas.

Grant Thornton played the role of Santa Clause yesterday afternoon dropping off 250 toys to the Mamas for Mamas office in Kelowna.

"Grant Thornton LLP has over 60 offices across the country and a few years ago we started the Grant Thortnon Foundation and that is the charity that enabled our staff in different locations to give back to their local communities," said Grant Thornton Partner, Kevin Santos.

Through the Foundation Grant Thornton has distributed over 100,000 brand new toys from Toys R Us to communities across Canada.

Santos says Mamas for Mamas was an easy choice.

"We did some research and thought it would be a great organization to deliver those toys too."

Mamas for Mamas is a local charitable organization that supports mothers in crisis, and provides ongoing support to low income Mamas and their kids.

"They will be using the toys for Christmas hampers, they will save some of the toys for birthday programs whether that means for the kid that has the birthday or maybe allowing a family to bring a gift to a birthday party that they were invited to."

"We heard some really cool stories, and it was very special to be a part of it all," Santos added.
