Rockets mini streak ends

The Kelowna Rockets modest two-game winning streak has come to an end.

The Rockets dropped the second game of a four-game Central Division road trip, 5-1 in Lethbridge.

The Hurricanes got on the board early, and kept the pressure on much of the first two periods, outshooting Kelowna 27-16 through the first 40 minutes.

Zachary Cox opened the scoring just two minutes in, then, just past the midway point, Jake Leschyshyn burned the Rockets with a shorthanded goal, putting the Canes up a pair.

Jake Elmer notched the lone goal of the second, before Jordy Bellerieve and Tyler Ross put it out of reach with goals a little more than two minutes apart early in the third.

Liam Kindree broke Carl Tetachuk's shutout bid with a power play goal with less than seven minutes left.

Roman Basran went the distance, allowing all five goals on 37 shots.

The Rockets continue the road trip in Calgary Friday and finish up Saturday in Medicine Hat before breaking for the Christmas holidays.
