Magnitude 5.4 earthquake SSW of Port Hardy, Canada on Dec. 9, 2018.
A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck on the West coast of Vancouver Island on Sunday morning.
The quake was detected 149 kilometres southwest of Port Hardy at 8:20 a.m. with a depth of 10 kilometres.
Natural Resources Canada says an aftershock with a magnitude of 4.8 occurred at 9:48 a.m. and again at 10:14 with a 4.2 magnitude.
No damages were reported and no tsunami was expected.
