Charged with sex assaults

Vancouver police have arrested a Prince George man for alleged historical sexual assaults involving a young girl – and they believe there may be more victims and witnesses.

Sgt. Jason Robillard says police arrested 46-year-old Kevin Roberts on Monday for offences allegedly committed in Vancouver and Prince George.

He says the victim is now an adult, who reported the alleged crimes to Vancouver police. Crown counsel approved multiple charges, including sexual assault, sexual interference, sexual assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.

Robillard would not say when the crimes are alleged to have occurred due to concerns about identifying the victim, but he says police believe additional offences may have allegedly been committed dating back as long as 20 years ago, up until recently.

He says victims would have been between the ages of four and 18 at the time of the alleged offences.

Robillard says Roberts leads a transient lifestyle and works as a truck driver on routes throughout British Columbia and Alberta, and he's also worked as a school bus driver in the Prince George area and as a mover.
