Vigil for mother, daughters

Kelowna residents will gather to remember a mother and her two daughters killed almost a year ago.

A candlelight vigil will be held for the second time since the death of Clara Forman and Karina and Yesenia.

The three were killed in their Rutland home just a few days before Christmas last year. Jacob Forman, Clara’s husband and father to the two young girls, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree murder.

More than 100 people gathered with candlelight flickering and snow falling last year to remember Clara and her daughters.

The group Moms of the Latin American Community will be hosting this year’s vigil on the stairs outside the Kelowna Law Courts at 5 p.m. on Dec. 9.

“It has almost been a year since this tragedy happened, and we want to honour the life of Clara, Yesenia and Karina,” said organizer Vicky Belteton.

All are welcome.

“It is an opportunity for the community to come together and mourn as one,” said Belteton.
