Snow lovers can get excited because the 10-day countdown has officially begun.

On Nov. 22 both SilverStar Mountain Resort near Vernon and Big White Ski Resort near Kelowna are expected to open for the winter season.

Both mountains have an alpine snow base over 50 centimetres with Big White's even cracking the 70-centimetre mark.

Apex Mountain Resort near Penticton is still expected to open right on schedule Dec. 8.

SilverStar Nordic skiing opens for the season this Friday.

All three mountains are expecting a great year on the slopes.

So far, the amount of snow at the local ski hills is right on par with a 'normal' year.

Generally opening day for both Big White and SilverStar is set for the end of November.
