Arrest made in murder

Port Coquitlam RCMP have laid second-degree murder charges against Elwood Poorman, in connection to the murder of Jonathon Shingoose.

The incident happened at 5:44 a.m. on
November 4, 2018, when the Coquitlam RCMP responded to a call from a residence in the 2300-block of Atkins Avenue in Port Coquitlam where they found 36-year-old Jonathon Shingoose dead with injuries believed to be from foul play.        

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the investigation and determined this was an isolated incident with no risk to public safety.

Poorman will appear before a judge in B.C. Provincial Court on November 13, 2018.    

“IHIT investigators, supported by the Coquitlam RCMP, steadfastly worked to compile the evidence for charge approval consideration by crown counsel,” says Corporal Frank Jang of IHIT.  “Our police investigation is on-going.  It has been turned over to the B.C. Prosecution Service and the matter will be before the court.”

Elwood Poorman was arrested and charged with second-degree murder on November 9, 2018.
