Scariest house in town

Chantelle Deacon

It's without a doubt the creepiest house in town, at least it is throughout the month of October.

A Vernon man, who recently moved to town, spent about two weeks decorating his house for Halloween, but he does it for more than just the 'ooo's' and 'ahhh's.'

"I love Halloween and it gives me a good reason to raise money for cancer," said Scott Mckintosh, the homeowner. "We (him and his wife) moved up here in March, so I brought everything with me to continue on."

Mckintosh fought back tears while he spoke about his reasons for raising funds for cancer.

"I just lost my brother in June to cancer, so it's a little touch," he said. "I have battled it a couple times and I've lost a lot of good friends and family to it, so it's close to my heart."

His display is in full effect from 6 to 8 p.m. nightly.

"Anyone who wants to stop by and take a look at the setup is more than willing to donate the night of."

On Halloween night Mckintosh will be taking cash donations in support of cancer.

"Whatever people wish to donate is good with me because every penny counts when everybody is battling cancer."

Mckintosh wants to thank Vernon Hyundai and Castanet for supplying the tents used in his display.

His house can be found on Mt. Begbie Drive on Middleton Mountain.
