Poppy campaign kicks off

The Vernon's Royal Canadian Legion Branch #25 kicked off its 2018 poppy campaign at Vernon's City Hall this morning.

The first poppy was pinned on Vernons out-going mayor and councillor elect Akbal Mund.

President Jennifer Pace and Service Office John Miller attended the event as part of the Legion's annual tradition.

This year's Poppy Campaign's official launch is on Friday, October 26th.

Leading up to Remembrance Day, Nov. 11, there will be campaigners in local stores and poppies available at local businesses throughout Vernon.

Volunteers are still needed for the Poppy Campaign and anyone wishing to participate can call the Legion office at 250-545-3295.

Final details will be part of the discussions at tonight's General Meeting (held at the Eagles hall every 4th Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m.

All members are welcome.
