Ground will be broken on an important addition to Kelowna General Hospital on Tuesday.
Donors and project stakeholders will officially turn earth to mark the beginning of construction on JoeAnna’s House.
The house will be a home away from home for families forced to travel to Kelowna for medical care. The two-storey building will have 20 hotel-style rooms.
The $8-million project will be located at the corner of Abbott Street and Royal Avenue, at the back of the hospital.
The site is currently being used as parking, but additional temporary parking will be added on the east side of Pandosy Street.
Fundraising for the project continues, but several large donations have pushed the KGH Foundation closer to its campaign goal.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 11 a.m.
