Theft devastates little girl

Alanna Kelly

A little girl is devastated after her family's ATV was stolen from their driveway in Kettle Valley on Oct. 17.

Police called Wes Sutherland telling him his quad was spotted in Rutland.

“It shocked me,” he said. “I’ve only had it registered for a month now.”

The one most upset was his young daughter, who was excited to ride with her father on it.

“I told her after school and she was bawling all the way home,” he said. “Every time we go in the backyard and she sees the empty shelter.. ya, we are dealing with it.”

Sutherland said they were going to go riding as father and daughter.

The ATV was locked down and put inside a shelter, but the thieves managed to sneak it past all of the objects in the way.

“Didn’t make a peep, no one noticed anything,” said Sutherland.

Since the theft, other neighbours have come forward saying they have also witnessed suspicious activity.

“I guess there is some social media buzz going on, people are really concerned about the increased crime right now,” he said.

Sutherland says he just wants the ATV returned, no questions asked and is even offering a reward if it is brought back.

RCMP are investigating the theft and anyone with information should contact them.
