Warriors snack on Smokies

Make it two in a row for the West Kelowna Warriors.

The Warriors came back from a two-goal deficit, in a 4-3 victory over the hometown Trail Smoke Eaters.

Mack Byers and Bryce Anderson staked the Smokies to a 2-0 lead after the opening 20 minutes.

The Warriors roared back with four unanswered goals, two from Mike Hardman and singles from Bennett Norlin and Willie Reim, then hung on for the victory.

Norlin and Hardman tied it with goals in the second, then the power play took lover.

Just 10 seconds after being handed a five-on-three, Hardman banged home his second of the night to give the Warriors their first lead of the night.

Just 61 seconds later, on the same power play, Reim doubled the lead.

Ken Johnson cut the deficit to one on a power play of their own with four minutes to go, but were unable to get the equalizer past Connor Hopkins.

Hopkins turned away 33 shots in earning the win.

The Warriors moved into a second place tie with Trail and Penticton with their weekend sweep.

They're off now until Friday when they entertain the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
