Rescue on Fraser River

Search and rescue crews scrambled to the scene of an overturned boat on the Fraser River near Yale on Friday.

Hope Search and Rescue was called out about 1:30 p.m. for reports of an overturned vessel two kilometres north of Yale.

The boat had four people on board, however two were missing and unaccounted for, Hope SAR tweeted.

Chilliwack SAR's swift water team joined the effort, along with a helicopter from Valley Helicopters in case the subjects had to be airlifted from the water.

While teams were en route, RCMP advised that one subject had been pulled out of the river just below Yale tunnel.

Shortly afterwards, the second subject was located across the river and was passed over to waiting paramedics.

There is no word on how the other two on board were brought to safety.
