Injured child left waiting

A Burnaby mother says her injured child was left waiting for over an hour for a cab to bring him home from school.

Tamara Wojdylo says she called to book a cab to pick up her 12 year old son, Sam, at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday after he broke an ankle during a skating lesson.

He sat on a bench and waited. And waited.

"Sam is very upset and he's calling. And he says, 'Mom, there is no cab coming. Nobody's coming,'" Wojdylo said Friday.

"I trusted a cab company to deliver my son, and they broke that trust."

Wojdylo called again at 3:45 p.m. and says she was given the run-around, so she left work and pulled up at Rosser Elementary School about 90 minutes after the reserved pickup time. The cab still hadn't arrived.

Bonny's Taxi told CTV they'd dispatched three cabs to the school, but a shift change and rush hour caused the delay.

"We are really sorry about that, but we definitely will figure it out, what we can do," said company spokesperson Baljinder Virdi.
