Pedestrian struck, killed

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car on Southeast Marine Drive in Vancouver.

Police are investigating the collision, which happened just after 6 a.m., mid-block, near Ross Street.

It is Vancouver’s fifth pedestrian fatality this year.

Several citizens rushed to provide first aid until paramedics arrived, but the victim was pronounced dead at hospital. An identity has yet to be released.

The driver, a 43-year-old Vancouver man, is co-operating with police. His wife and child were in the car at the time, and all were taken to hospital for medical assessment.
