CFUZ captures $33K grant

CFUZ Peach City Radio has received $33,000 in funding from the Community Radio Fund of Canada to improve local programming.

The community radio station is working towards going live on the FM airwaves in the coming months, and will use the new funds to train hosts and support what will be the first live talk-based show on the station.

“As a 100% volunteer-run station, financial support from the CRFC allows us to move forward with our mandate to provide a truly local radio experience to listeners,” said CFUZ president Jackie Del Rizzo.

“The Speak Out program will highlight local community groups and initiatives which in turn will expand the diversity of voices and ideas heard on the station. The weekly radio program will kickstart a new group of programmers specializing in spoken word content as well.”

The funding will also allow CFUZ to hire a coordinator for the program. Applications are being accepted until Friday.
