Vancouver Island's Mount Washington is adding a 2.3-kilometre zipline.

The attraction, which will be the longest zipline on the Island, is part of a $3.5-million upgrade.

It will start from the top of the mountain and plunge through a 415-metre drop.

The resort hopes to have the line open next summer, and work began this week on concrete bases for the towers.

The dual line will allow riders to zip side by side and will finish off at the mountain's ski school.
