Getting ready for PR vote

Elections BC is getting residents ready for the referendum on electoral reform.

The agency have begun delivering voter's guides to all households in the province in advance of the distribution of voting packages Oct. 22.

“The voter’s guide has everything voters need to know to participate in the referendum,” says Anton Boegman, Chief Electoral Officer.

“Voters with questions are encouraged to contact us at 1-800-661-8683.”

Short videos on the basics of the voting systems on the ballot and an online version of the voter's guide are available by clicking here.

Referendum voting packages will be mailed to households from Oct. 22 and Nov. 2.

Completed voting packages must be received by Elections BC no later than 4 p.m. Nov. 30.

Individuals can vote in the referendum if they are:

  • a Canadian citizen
  • 18 or older as of November 30, 2018
  • a resident of B.C. for at least six months immediately before November 30, 2018.

Voters are encouraged to get ready for the referendum by getting informed about how to vote and all four voting systems.
