Vees hire new asst. coach

The Penticton Vees have announced the hiring of a new assistant coach.

Brandon West will join the Vees after spending the 2017-18 season as head coach of the Surrey Eagles. Prior to that he was head coach of the Salmon Arm Silverbacks and went 91-77-12-16 in four years as a BCHL head.

“Brandon will be a great addition to our already strong support staff,” said Vees head coach, general manager and president Fred Harbinson. “Our organization has always taken pride in the development of our players and Brandon’s experience will be a benefit to achieving our goals.”

Prior to his time in the BCHL, West was the head coach of the BCMML’s Okanagan Rockets from 2009-2011.

“This is a premiere organization not only within this league, but in hockey as well,” West said. “I’m very excited for this opportunity. It’s an honour to be here and I’m looking forward to it.”

In other Vees news, defencemen James Miller has been named the BCHL’s player of the week ending Oct. 14. He picked up three goals and three assists in three games this last week, as the Vees picked up five of a possible six points.
