A big rig hauling bags of cement mix that caught fire Tuesday has been cleaned up.

Heavy equipment had to be brought in to clean what was left of the rig and cargo.

A large transport truck is ablaze in the eastbound lanes of Highway 97C, a few kilometres from the Highway 97 interchange.

One witness reported that heat from the blaze was so intense they could feel it through the windshield from the westbound lanes.

The cab and the container have reportedly been separated. The container is completely engulfed.

Witnesses say the cab appears to still be intact.

The truck is on the far right lane, next to the merge lane off Trepanier Bench Road. There is currently no access from Trepanier on to the eastbound lanes of the highway.

DriveBC reports the eastbound lanes are closed.

There is no word on any injuries.
