Wine centre breaks ground

Madison Erhardt

Ground has been broken on a 15,000-square-foot wine centre and dining lounge at Mount Boucherie Estate Winery in West Kelowna.

"Our winery opened in 2001. We are really blessed to have about 200 acres of vineyards across the Okanagan, and this is our moment to have a great winery experience centre to match the vineyards that we farm," said general manager Jesse Harden.

The wine centre and dining lounge are expected to open next fall.

Harden says the space wont have the typical winery feel.

"We are going to be a little different. The restaurant, for example, is going to be a bit more casual. It's going to encourage people to come in with flip flops or a tuxedo, whatever you want."
