Nutty farmers are being encouraged to start planning for the 2019 season by applying for the second intake of Hazelnut Renewal Program funding.

Funding applications are now available for hazelnut growers planning for spring 2019.

"Anyone who knows me can tell you that I love hazelnuts," said Lana Popham, Minister of Agriculture. "The Hazelnut Renewal Program is directly supporting the revitalization of this important sector, and I encourage our passionate growers to take the opportunity now to apply for funding."

The British Columbia hazelnut industry has been battling hard against eastern filbert blight for the past few years, a disease that has been decimating hazelnut crops in regions throughout the province.
