There's a new sports team in the province.
Canucks Sports & Entertainment announced the name for the National Lacrosse League team Friday.
The team, which used to be known as the Vancouver Stealth, has been re-named the Warriors and they will feature a new logo as well.
“In choosing the name, we wanted to land on an identity that honoured the legacy of lacrosse in our province,” Jeff Stipec, chief operating officer of Canucks Sports & Entertainment, said in a statement. “It was also important for us to have a name that incited feelings of strength and excitement to accompany the dynamic atmosphere at NLL games.”
The team was purchased by Canucks Sports & Entertainment in June and the season opens in December.
