Fatal hit and run

Surrey RCMP are looking for witnesses and video of a fatal hit and run to help find the suspect.

Cpl. Elenore Sturko said shortly before 9 p.m., on Sept. 20, a pedestrian was struck by two westbound vehicles on Highway 10 approximately 200 metres east of 152 Street.
The pedestrian, an adult male in his 50s, was attempting to cross the northbound and was not using a crosswalk at the time of the collision.

“The male was struck by one vehicle which fled the scene and then struck a second time by a vehicle which was following behind the first. The driver of the second involved vehicle stayed at the scene of the collision and is co-operating with police,” said Sturko.

“Investigators are looking for the suspect vehicle which was described as a white SUV with a 'boxy' appearance.”

Investigators are asking anyone who was a witness to this incident, who has not already been in contact with police, to call Surrey RCMP.

“Investigators are also canvassing the area for video and asking any members of the public who may have captured the incident on dash-cam to call the police,” said Sturko.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502. To make an anonymous report, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca.
