New Vintage Theatre’s fall Starry Nights season kicks off in a mystery downtown Kelowna location.
The Russian Play and Essay run Thursday through Saturday.
Both one-act plays are by Canadian indie sensation Hannah Moscovitch, dubbed the “dark angel of Toronto theatre” by the Toronto Star.
The mystery element is a result of necessity. Faced with a shortage of venues for September, company members had an idea for a self-produced show in a non-traditional venue.
Details of the venue are kept secret until tickets are purchased.
The Russian Play is the story of a young woman who falls in love with a gravedigger in the shadow of the Stalinist regime. Essay, meanwhile, centres around a heated debate between a teaching assistant and a professor about a young woman’s paper.
Tickets are $20 and available at www.selectyourtickets.com or the Prospera Place box office.
