Both the truck and trailer were destroyed in the blaze.

Motorists on the highway say traffic is moving slowly through the area again.

Explosions were heard at the scene of a truck fire on the Coquihalla.

Witness Stefan Kuznia says emergency vehicles are now at the incident between Hope and Merritt.

The driver and passengers all got out safely, he adds.

Southbound traffic to Vancouver is flowing smoothly, while northbound traffic to Merritt is currently stopped.

A pickup is engulfed in flames on the side of the Coquihalla Highway at this hour.

Castanet reader Stefan Kuznia snapped this image of the truck, between Hope and Merritt, about 4:20 p.m.

"Just happened minutes ago," he said. "No driver that we've seen."

The Ford pickup was towing a trailer. At the time of the photo, the trailer had not caught fire.

Emergency vehicles were seen en route to the blaze.
