Firefighters have contained a small wildfire on the West Vancouver waterfront.

The blaze broke out Monday afternoon in some bushes off railway tracks near the 3300 block of Sunset Lane.

The fire covered an area about 15 by 30 metres by 5 p.m.

A couple of nearby homes were briefly evacuated, but the residents were allowed home by 6 p.m.

There's no word yet of the cause of the fire.
