Roads closed for triathlon

A number of roads will be closed throughout downtown Kelowna this weekend for the return of the Apple Triathlon.

The triathlon, which took a year off in 2017 while it found new management, is back Saturday and Sunday.

This year's event will also return to its original starting point at City Park, as opposed to Waterfront Park.

Bernard Avenue will be closed from Abbott to Water streets all day while Water from Leon to Cawston and Lawrence between Abbott and Water will be closed from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Several closures are scheduled between 5 a.m. and 1 p.m. for Sunday, including:

  • Bernard from Water to Glenmore
  • Lawrence from Abbott to Water
  • Glenmore from Bernard to Summit
  • Summit from Glenmore to Dilworth
  • Rifle/Longhill from Summit to Valley
  • Valley from Longhill to Summit

Abbott will also be closed from Lake to Christleton from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Motorists wanting to access downtown are asked to use Clement Avenue. As well, all Bernard Avenue cross streets except Gordon Drive will be closed Sunday.
