Stabbing at orchard

An altercation between two seasonal workers living in shared accommodation on an orchard in Kelowna's Ellison area led to a stabbing Monday night.

Police were called to an orchard on the 4300 block of Old Vernon Road just after 8 p.m. Monday to find a 31-year-old man suffering from a stab wound in his back.

The victim was rushed to hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. He continues to recover from his injuries.

A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene, and police say he faces potential charges.

“RCMP continue to secure the crime scene, as investigators with the Kelowna RCMP General Investigation Section await a warrant to search the property and gather physical evidence,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

Police have asked anyone with information about the stabbing to call them at 250-762-3300.
