Didn't know theft a crime

One of two men caught on camera absconding with three buckets of balls from a Kelowna driving range has turned himself in to police.

Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey says the unidentified man came forward immediately after the incident hit local media.

Investigators say the man, who admitted to leaving with the golf balls, had no idea the act would be considered a crime.

“The individual has agreed to work with the impacted business to come to a resolution which satisfies all parties involved,” says O’Donaghey.

The incident took place at the Golf Centre on Benvoulin Road. The two men paid $45 for three buckets (360 balls), but instead of hitting them there, loaded them in a vehicle and drove away.
