John Mayer burglary victim

John Mayer's home has reportedly been ransacked by a burglar who stole more than $200,000 of property.

According to editors at TMZ.com, the suspect broke into the singer's Beverly Hills property on Friday by smashing a bedroom window.

The burglar then made off with music equipment and personal property, including several of John's watches from his large and valuable timepiece collection.

Nobody was at the property at the time of the break-in.

A security guard noticed the broken window and alerted police.

The 40-year-old singer had reportedly purchased the 3.6-acre property from Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine earlier this year for $13.4 million.

The secluded property has five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a media room, library, gym and a spa, as well as a swimming pool and basketball court.

The Gravity singer is the latest in a spate of celebrity home burglary victims.

Just last month, rapper French Montana's mansion in a guarded, gated community in Calabasas, California, was targeted by two armed criminals. It's not known what, if anything, was taken during the alleged break-in and detectives have not named any suspects.

And in May, Eduardo Leon was arrested after allegedly breaking into Rihanna's empty West Hollywood home and spending the night, reportedly waiting for Rihanna to return so he could have sex with her.

The Umbrella hitmaker had been in New York for the Met Gala at the time.

Leon had also reportedly illegally entered another property days earlier, believing it still belonged to the pop superstar. The case is currently on hold while a judge decides whether Leon, 26, is mentally fit to stand trial.
