Drugs at school

UPDATE 8:08 a.m.

The person who sent Castanet a photo and a note regarding drug use in a south Rutland neighbourhood has reached out to us again and asked that her name be removed from a story we wrote on Monday. The person who will be anonymous, says she is being harassed. "Keep it up. Idk it needs to be heard but can you remove my last name though please."

"I just moved to the south Rutland area and this is disturbing knowing my 4-year-old son will be attending south Rutland elementary school this fall."

Thanks for your courage, we have removed your name and we will keep it up.

ORIGINAL 5:00 a.m. Monday

A new resident of the south Rutland neighbourhood of Kelowna was shocked by a photo posted in her local community Facebook group.

The photo depicts what the poster alleges to be two individuals "cooking up drugs," as she wrote, before proceeding to inject the substances, in the middle of the field adjacent to South Rutland Elementary School.

"This is disturbing, knowing my four-year-old son will be attending South Rutland Elementary School this fall," said Danielle, new to the area. She sent the Facebook post to Castanet in the hope that word would spread about potential issues in the area.

The original post indicates the individuals were seen shooting up on Saturday night, and claims that RCMP were called.
