A man shot near Oliver Tuesday night has been identified.

Christopher Glenn Haacke, who according to the Oliver Daily News may have been 54 years old rather than 58 as the original RCMP report suggested, was shot outside his Wilson Mountain Road residence.

Though RCMP did not release the man's name, a woman posted in the public Oliver Loop Facebook group Thursday claiming the man was the father of her children, and other posts on the same thread mentioned him by name. 

An Ever Here obituary website was set up for Christopher Haacke of Oliver, B.C. on Wednesday, which also states his age as being 54, as well as a brief notice of death saying he "died suddenly" on a local funeral services website. 

An investigation into the death is ongoing, and the preliminary findings indicate Haacke and those involved with the shooting were known to each other.
