Lights back on after crash

UPDATE: 8:20 p.m.

Power has now been restored for more than 1,900 customers in the Lumby area, after a single-car crash caused an outage for more than two hours.

The car crashed into a power pole on Whitevale Road, Lumby Fire Chief Tony Clayton says. Fire crews closed the road temporarily to deal with downed power wires.

Clayton says no one was around when fire crews arrived, so it's not known what caused the collision.

Close to 4,000 BC Hydro customers were without power for a short time Saturday evening. An outage first reported in Lake Country at 5:15 p.m. lasted until about 7:30 p.m.

UPDATE: 7:45 p.m.

The lights are back on for more than 2,000 Lake Country residents after a power outage that lasted about two hours.

BC Hydro crews determined the cause of the outage was trees falling down on power lines.

In the Lumby area, 1,905 customers remain without power due to an outage that occurred at 6 p.m, and crews are now working on repairs. The outage is a result of a motor vehicle accident.
