Never giving up

Jody Leon refuses to give up.

Neither do a lot of other people who are continuing the search for four missing women.

Ashley Simpson, Nicole Bell, Caitlin Potts and Deanna Wertz have all gone missing from the North Okanagan-Shuswap area over the last couple of years.

Leon is the chairperson of the MMIW Drone Search team which will once again be heading out this weekend to continue the search.

Leon said searchers will be gathering at the Splatsin community centre in Enderby Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m.

Members of the Potts, Simpson and Bell families will be in attendance, as will a number of volunteer searchers.

“We're rousting up more support as we go and are continuing to grow the movement to help find the four missing women,” said Leon. “The BC Nurses Union is bringing out a bus (of volunteers).”

The group is also receiving donations of materials and even seven campsites for out-of-town searchers.

Bernie Williams will also be in attendance.

Williams is a vocal advocate for missing and murdered women, having lost her mother and two sisters to murder and was an active spokesperson during the Picton investigation.

Leon said there will be a search using drones as well as a ground search of the hills around Enderby.

“We have maps including al the access roads of where we can go. We will be heading in four different directions over the next two days,” she said.
