Makita chainsaws recalled

Makita Canada is recalling its Makita and Dolmar chainsaws.

The recall involves Makita and Dolmar brand chainsaws in the 64, 73 and 79 cc classes. These chainsaws were sold with and without chainsaw bars and chains. The motor housing/fuel tank are either red/orange or teal blue in colour.

The model number and date of manufacture are located on the label at the back of the saw near the handle.

The automatic chain brake does not easily engage when the saw kicks back, failing to stop the chain could possibly injure the user.

As of July 4, the company has received no report of incident or injury in Canada.

The affected products were sold in Canada from April 2002 to June 2018.

For more information, consumers may contact the nearest Makita Factory Service Centre.
