Calm after the storm?

Many Okanagan residents woke up Wednesday morning to the calm after the storm.

Environment Canada had a heat warning issued for much of the province for the past two days but no lightning was in the forecast as of four p.m. Tuesday.

Many events in the Okanagan went ahead as if there was nothing to be concerned about. Some valley residents even continued to water ski during the lightning storm which raked the valley and lakes with strikes, sparking fires up and down the valley.

The storm blew out as quickly as it blew in and left behind some spectacular scenery only witnessed on a few occasions. The high heat combined with winds and lightning for a spectacular display by Mother Nature.

Our faithful Castanet readers captured these images to remind us that where there is devastation there is also beauty.
