Police save lost goat

UPDATED: 1:02 p.m.

It's not everyday police are called to assist in the rescue of a lost goat, but that's exactly what happened on Alexis Park Drive in Vernon on Saturday.

Photos posted to the Vernon Rant and Rave and Vernon & Area Community Forum show two police officers bringing a goat into the safety of a police cruiser.

The posts stirred up some laughter on social media.

"To the awesome Vernon Police Officers who thankfully have a lot of patience and a good sense of humour who helped us with taking this poor goat off the road," said the person who made the post.

It's uncertain who the original owners of the goat were but it's now happy, safe and loving life at O'Keefe Ranch.

It could possibly be the strangest inmate the Vernon RCMP have ever seen.

Saturday, a black and white, horned goat was spotted walking along Alexis Park Drive in Vernon.

According to a post on the Vernon and Area Community Forum Facebook page, the wayward animal is now in police custody, and is being held in city cells.

Anyone who is missing a goat can call police.
