More fighters requested

UPDATE: 5:37 p.m.

Eight firefighters are currently at the scene of the blaze that broke out near Merritt Sunday afternoon, with more requested, according to BC Wildfire spokesperson Brenna Ward.

Multiple air tankers have also been deployed to drop water on the flames.

According to Ward, there is no reason to think excessive wind will be a factor in efforts to control the burn at this time, and no structures are currently threatened, as the location is fairly remote.

More updates will come as necessary.
