Hit and run on camera

A Kelowna man witnessed a hit and run near Reid's Corner Saturday morning, and captured it on his dashcam.

The crash occurred just before 6 a.m. at the new roundabout intersection at Old Vernon Road and Rutland Road.

A black Dodge Ram enters the intersection from the east, as a red minivan is already in the roundabout. The Ram doesn't slow down, and collides with the minivan, before taking off in the south direction down Rutland Road.

“He just blew right into the side of that guy's van,” said Jeremy Mckee, who caught the collision on his dashcam. “He just hesitated for half a second and then just punched it and got out of there, and he's just gone.”

“It was like he was just not even looking, just went straight into it.”

Mckee said he wasn't able to get a good look at the person behind the wheel, but noticed a red Alberta licence plate on the back of the Dodge Ram.

The driver of the minivan appeared to be OK, other than being “a little upset that the guy took off.”

Mckee says the police were called, and he plans to share his video with them later today.
