Gas price gouging?

Skyrocketing gas prices have prompted B.C. Premier John Horgan to call for a federal investigation into gas prices in Vancouver.

In the midst of the Trans Mountain pipeline dispute, Horgan said he is prepared to take the issue to the top.

"British Columbians are driving to the pumps and they're outraged that the costs are going up and they can't explain why," he said. "I would certainly welcome the federal government to get into the game here and protect consumers."

Prices across the province have been rising steadily. Right now in Kelowna prices range between 141.9 cents per litre and 143.9 cents per litre. In Vernon gas is slightly cheaper at 138.9 cents per litre, Penticton is right in the middle at 140.9 cents per litre.

Still considerably cheaper than prices in Metro Vancouver, according to GasBuddy.com, prices vary between 154.9 and 161.9 cents per litre.
