The bulls are back in town

The roar of engines will be missing at the Penticton Speedway this weekend, replaced with a crowd cheering on the riders and bulls at Bull-A-Rama.

Twenty riders and 40 bulls will compete for glory and thousands in cash prizes. Each rider will get two shots, on two different bulls, to stay in the saddle for eight seconds.

"There's some pretty good contestants coming, we have some of the guys in the top ranking of our standings," said Jennifer Friend with Bull Riders Canada. "We also have a couple 16-year-old rookies coming to ride as well. it should be a really great show."

The annual event has two dates this year, this weekend on Sunday, May 27 at 2 p.m. and on July 21 at 6 p.m. Last year, the Speedway built a new arena specifically outfitted for the bull riding.

Visitors will also have a chance to meet four mini horses who are new at the Speedway.

Tickets are $25 for adults at the gate, $20 for youths and seniors and kids under 10 are free.
