Cool rides, classic cars

Peachland doubled in population Sunday, for the annual World of Wheels show and shine.

Thousands of people packed Beach Avenue to check out the Central Okanagan's largest car show of the year.

Customs, classics, muscle cars, hotrods and more lined the streets and parks as crowds took in the festival atmosphere.

Live bands played and car fans drooled over the machinery while those who drove them in traded stories about their rides and swapped restoration tips.

Local Jeff Schneider was there with the 1968 Buick Electra his mother had owned since new in California.

It's seen some epic journeys.

The family lived for 20 years in Mexico City, and Schneider and his son drove it all the way from Mexico, up the coast of California and on to the Okanagan in 2014.

Love your car shows? The next big one, the Boyd Auto Father's Day Car Show, comes on June 17 at Kelowna City Park.
