Silver a thrill for Peewees

A Penticton Peewee lacrosse team came close to tasting gold over the May long weekend at the 2018 Barn Burner tournament.

The Penticton Heat battled hard against their competition, the Ridge Meadow Burrards.

"As parents, we were so proud of them, they worked really hard," O'Brien said. "It's our best showing this year for the team. This was the first time playing making it to a medal round playing teams from out of town."

There were teams from around the valley, as well as the Kootenay region and the Fraser Valley.

O'Brien's son plays for the team, which is made up of kids aged 10-12.

"Everyone wanted to win gold but we were very happy winning silver," O'Brien said."Everyone worked very hard. Everyone was exhausted by the end."

O'Brien thinks lacrosse teams in Penticton deserve some attention.

"It's such a hockey town I just thought, let's let people know what's going on," O'Brien said.
